To better understand Destiny 2, you must have some understanding of Destiny 1. A brief rundown of the original game is that you are a Guardian. You protect the small, surviving remainder of humanity in Earth's last city. Guardians have special powers given to them by the Traveller, a giant floating orb that watches over the city. In the first game, Guardians eliminated alien forces that threatened humanity while also honing their skills in the Crucible, which is PvP. In Destiny 2, Gaul, a Cabal warlord has launched an attack on the Last City and The Traveller. He stripped Guardians of their power and Guardians must go on a quest to regain their powers and defeat Gaul.
